Welcome!
This is my first post on this site, and as most first posts go, I imagine the lameness of my prose will be forever etched in the internet-ether. Hopefully, despite the inadequacies of a first introduction, you will not be frightened away and will perhaps frequent my little corner of cyberspace on more than one occasion.
You may be curious about my blog title and website. Don’t worry, I am a little too. Elizabeth Bennet is a character from the novel Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austin. I’ve always enjoyed her character as a woman of strengthen, assertion, dedication, loyalty, and a little bit of insanity. I like to think I share in some of her qualities, especially the insanity. So no, Elizabeth is not my real name. Maybe someday I will expose myself to the harsh judges of the almighty World Wide Web, but in the mean time, you can call me EB or Lizzy, if you prefer. The title “When Lizzy Ate Darcy,” describes how I feel as an Elizabeth. I have struggled with love, life, weight… ok mostly the weight, all my life. I’ve come to a conclusion that quick fixes, like band-aids, will eventually wear off, probably in a pool or in the shower, or something equally gross.
This blog will be my journal. I will talk about the things in my life, my observations, things I think are funny, things I hate. Just a collection of stuff. Perhaps some of my stuff is interesting, perhaps not. I don’t really know yet. Maybe I’ll have an audience or perhaps my best friend will be my only reader, who knows. What I do know is that I am unhappy and I have to find an outlet. This is it, at least for now.
Now, enough somber bullshit. Just because I’m in a pissy mood, doesn’t mean I need to drag the rest of you down with me. I’m working on a post in honor of Halloween. Hopefully that will be up in a few hours.
As I close, I’d like to say thanks for taking the time to peek in on me. I do appreciate an onlooker or two.
Yours,
EB
